Birthday Treats 2014

As February comes to a close, I’m ready to give you another list of birthday discounts/gifts from companies. Some have changed, some are new and some haven’t changed. I realize I didn’t give any information about how I got these rewards last year so I decided to add if I’m a member of their rewards programs or not to this post. To see what I got last year, you can read this post. Murphy’s law came into play with my first few attempts to do the video, but I will try to have it up by the end of the week.

Vera Bradley

I’m putting this one first because it had the most notable change. For the last two years, I received $20 credit. This year, when my card came it said that I get 40% off one full priced item or 20% my entire purchase at any outlet store until February 28th. As you can see that is not even equivalent to $20 credit. I wasn’t happy but 40% is still a lot. Vera Bradley offers this to it’s customers who register with them as they are completing a sale, they do not have a rewards program.

Purchased 1 Hard Eyeglass case: $22 – 40% off + tax = $14.45 paid.

Tory Burch

After seeing that Vera Bradley changed, I was hoping that Tory Burch still gave the $50 credit with a minimum purchase of $50 until February 28th. Tory Burch offers this to it’s customers, they do not have a rewards program. Obviously they don’t have anything $50 so you always spend more.

Purchased 1 Sammy Crossbody on sale: $225 -$50 +tax = $191.62 paid

Sephora

This year, Sephora partnered with Make Up For Ever to give you a gift for you to collect during your birthday month. You can just present your Beauty Insider card if you are a member to collect it. If you aren’t, sign up so that you can receive it next year if your birthday has already passed. No purchase necessary.

Received: 1 mini mascara and lipstick set from Make Up For Ever.

Victoria’s  Secret

This year again, I received a $10 off any purchase until February 28th. I still haven’t gotten an Angel card and I don’t plan to so I received this simply from entering my email address when I shop there.

Purchased 7 panties + PINK top for $5. Paid $34.38 after $10 off plus discount for 5 for $26  (any extras are discounted as well)

DSW & Famous Footwear

I received $5 credit from both of these companies as I’m a member of their rewards programs. I find it strange that a shoe company would give you $5. What is it to go towards? Laces?! Even $10 would be better. I know they don’t have to give you anything but I’d rather you just acknowledge the birthday and say Happy Birthday than give me $5. It’s a shoe store!!

Purchased (from DSW) 1 5pk socks: $9.95 – $5 + tax = $5.42 paid

World Market

I received a $10 coupon again this year valid until March 3rd. You have to be a member of their rewards program to receive it. I was lucky to receive an extra 15% off my purchase as I went on the last day of that sale.

Purchased 2 scarves: $27.98 – $10 – 15% + tax =  $15.09 paid

Sunglass Hut

I received another $20 credit from Sunglass Hut valid until April 30th. In the email with the code, it says that it expires February 28th but on the card that they sent me the expiration date is April 30th. Make sure you keep the card in a safe place if you do not purchase anything during your birthday month. They do not have a rewards program but once they have your information in the system, you will get this.

Purchased 1 Ray Ban Aviator (RB3025 55): 144.95 – $20 + tax = $136.82 paid

Anthropologie

I signed up for Anthropologie’s reward program after my birthday month last year so this year I received an email with 15% off my purchase during the month of February.

Purchased 2 books: $27.90 – 15% + tax = $25.96 paid

Cusp

I don’t remember signing emails or anything for Cusp. I did order something from Neiman Marcus last year, so because Cusp is a part of their company, I’m assuming it’s why I received 25% off a regular priced purchase during the month of February.

Purchased 1 House of Harlow bracelet: $18 – 25% + tax = $14.78 paid

Ulta

This was my first year receiving a gift from Ulta for my birthday. Just like Sephora, they give you something as opposed to a discount. You would have to be a member of their rewards program to receive anything, sign up is free.

Received: 1 CK One Mascara ($18 value)

Bare Minerals

I only signed up for their rewards program last month when I went into their store. I’d never bought anything from their store and the lady mentioned a rewards program so I decided why not. They give you your gift closer to your birthday and have a little countdown to it in your account.

Received: 1 eyeshadow ( $14 value)

The Body shop

This year again it was $10 off your purchase during your birthday month and you are still allowed your 10% off most in-store and online purchases once you are a Love Your Body member. It will automatically appear on your account so you do not have to take anything to the store. This year I went during a sale of buy 2 get 2 free plus I received a free gift.

Purchased 4 items + 1 free item: $47.50 – $10 – 10% off – $23 free items + tax = $14.29 paid

Macy’s

I’m assuming Macy’s pulled my birthday info from my card. I shop online, but they do not have a rewards program only a credit card that I do not have either. But again this year I received

Nine west

I am a member of the 9Loves rewards program and so this year again I received 25% off expiring March 15th.

American Eagle

15% off during the month of your birthday for all brands (Aerie/American Eagle Outfitters/AEO Factory).  I am an AERewards member and I have my birthday correct in my profile online, but for some strange reason, I received this last year in March. I didn’t use this during the month of February though, I used another code for 25% off that I received.

Purchased 1 pair braided flip-flop: $24.95 – 25% + tax = $20.49 paid

Asos

Asos was a little interesting. I received 10% off my purchase up to $890 and it expired on my birthday, which meant I had up to the day to use it. Weird huh? It’s a good thing I check my email daily! I didn’t use this coupon.

Sigma

For my first year receiving anything from Sigma Beauty, I got 20% off my purchase until March 20th and cannot be combined with any other offers. I haven’t used this coupon as yet.

benefit Cosmetics

During the week of your birthday, when you present  your driver’s license, you can get a free brow wax. I went to the Brow Bar in Macy’s and had mine done.

Shop Your Way

I guess this is the rewards program for Sears and Kmart. I think I remember signing up to purchase something from Sears  sometime last year but never bought anything. So if you signed up for an account on either of these websites, you are given $10 off your purchase of $30 or more. This expires on March 3rd.

Starbucks

I just had to… I’m a Gold member and this year they’re giving “two treats”. The first one is 15% off your online purchase. It expires on March 22nd and I received the email on February 20th, so I’m assuming you have a month to use it. The other treat is for “a handcrafted beverage, Starbucks bottled beverage or the food item of your choice. Your birthday reward can also be used at Teavana® stores where you can redeem your reward for a free drink or 1 oz of loose-leaf tea.” as stated in the email.

Purchased 1 24oz cold cup: $10.95 -15% off + tax & shipping = $15.61 paid

Keds

On my birthday, I received a 15% off coupon valid for 30 days from receipt of the email. If your birthday is in March, you should definitely try to sign up by the end of this week. I signed up on their website early in February and was still able to get it. I will definitely be purchasing another pair of Keds very soon.

Cargo Cosmetics

I signed up for this website because I had voucher to use. When you create an account you automatically join their Frequent Miles Club. On my birthday I received 25 Frequent Flyer miles that I can use towards a purchase once I’ve collected 100 miles ($5). Miles are kept for a year.

I finally got it transferred, edited and uploaded 2 days later 🙂

  1. Hi! Hope you had a great birthday this year! I was wondering if you are going to post the list for the 2015 treats.
    Thank you!

    • Hi Maria, baby is due any day now so I got a little distracted :). I can still put together a list though, so look out for it by the end of this week. Will get started today.
