Splurge vs, Steal – Back Zip Sweatshirt

I’ve been loving the sporty trend, but the one item I love them most from it is sweatshirts. I never used to wear sweatshirts but I decided to give them a try over Fall as I wanted to try something other than sweaters and long sleeve shirts. Over the weekend while out shopping with friends, we spotted a sweatshirt with a back zip in Nordstrom. The texture and the look had us swooning until we saw the price tag. $250! No thank you! Just as that jolt of pain hit my chest after seeing the price tag, I remembered that Madewell had a similar one for $75. We eventually made it there and I was able to get the last one in the store which was a size XS. I’m normally a S in tops because of my broad shoulders but the fit was perfect.

On the left is the J Brand ‘Debbie’ Back Zip Sweatshirt (spotted in Nordstrom) and on the right is Madewell’s Back-Zip Sweatshirt. The Madewell sweatshirt felt a lot thicker than the J Brand and I was really pleased with that. I know this might not seem like a “steal” for a sweatshirt but when you have something this comfy and versatile, I think it’s ok to spend a little extra on it.

I’ve been pairing my sweatshirts with leggings and wedge sneakers to give them an edgy feel. I’ve also been wearing my hair similar to Bruno Mars for that extra edge as well 😛 . I also love the look of sweatshirts with skinny/boyfriend jeans and heels but I’ve been pairing my sweatshirt and jeans with other wedge sneakers as I haven’t had anywhere to wear heels as yet.

I also bought the Converse ‘Jack Purcell’ sneakers in white, as I’ve had my black and grey Converse on a constant rotation recently and I wanted something else to throw in the mix with the same style. They’re so comfy! Are there any sporty styles you’ve been wearing?
