Snip SNIP!

Today I went to get my relaxer. It’s been 7 weeks and I almost shaved my head bald due to the grief I went through with my very thick new growth. I blogged recently about Spring/Summer hair and today’s chop was the start of the process. If you don’t know, you shouldn’t get your hair colored the same time you relax it as it would make your hair extremely brittle from using so many chemicals. You should wait at least 2 weeks. So I will be going back in 4 weeks to get my color done. I’m really excited about that bit! This is what I started off with. It was actually an inch or two longer than it looked here.

Before

Before

Since I started gaining some length, I was very quick to force my hair into a ponytail and I also sleep on my right side more. I think these two factors caused me to have a lot of unevenness on the right side. All of this is to say, besides me being able to have a semi-short cut again, we went for this cut to help it grow back healthy and still keep the length.

After

After

After having short hair for the last 3/4 years I am all for it now because I feel edgier and sexier. It forces me to style my hair more and try different styles, to make sure I’m wearing earrings and my eyebrows are done. With length comes a lot of ponytails and only styling it after washing and for special outings – for me at least. My husband used to be a “long hair only” kind of guy but as my hair was growing out he was getting quite frustrated and he was all for this cut today even though he didn’t know what I was doing. He also told me to go blonde… But we’ll see about color in 4 weeks :).

If you live in Bellevue/Seattle, I go to Regis Salon in Factoria and see Vickie there (425)747-9912. I’ve been to two stylists at JCPenney in Bellevue Square and let’s just say I rather try relaxing my hair/styling it myself before I go there again.

What’s your preferred length?

xx
